Frequently Asked Questions

When will I receive payment for completing a study?

All of the focus groups hosted by Focus Pointe Global, both online and in-person, pay participants for their time and opinions. We call these payments “incentives.”

1. For In-Person Studies
Participants for in-person studies receive their incentive payment, via pre-paid Visa™ card, at the end of the session. Occasionally a check is issued in lieu of a Visa™ card.

2. For Telephone & Multi-Session Online Surveys
Incentive payments are made, via pre-paid Visa™ card, 6 to 8 weeks after completion of a study. Oftentimes, studies conducted by Focus Pointe Global take place over several weeks. In these instances, the 6 to 8 week incentive payment processing time begins after completion of the last session of the study.

3. For Single-Session Online Surveys
Upon completion of the survey, incentive payments in the form of Online Focus Pointes™ are usually posted immediately to your member account. Accumulated balances may be withdrawn by the participant once their account balance reaches 2000 Pointes or 3 months, whichever happens first. Payment will be made in the form of a prepaid Visa™ debit card.

How often can I participate in your focus groups?

Our client companies often ask that you have not recently participated in a group to keep your opinions as unbiased and fresh as possible. Each client company makes their own choice regarding past participation; some stipulate 3 months or 6 months, and others request a year between studies. Studies that are online-only do not count toward your past participation.

Will I have to give you my credit card information?

There may be studies that inquire about your credit cards, such as the bank you use or your purchasing habits, but you will never be asked to provide us with your credit card number or to make a purchase from us.

I have taken many Online Surveys with your company, but my account still reflects a $0 balance. Why?

Unfortunately, not everyone who starts a survey will qualify and complete it. Eligibility is determined with several questions at the beginning of the survey; only eligible participants will be able to complete the survey and be paid for it. Furthermore, if you are part of a popular demographic group, many people may be filling out the survey at the same time as you, and your demographic may fill up quickly.

I've been a member, but never get picked to participate in a study. Why?

Because marketing research revolves around gathering the opinions of individuals that either use or do not use certain products or services, there are times when your answers will not meet the criteria needed for a particular study. Our industry clients set specific requirements for each study they conduct, and we rigorously screen participants to make sure that we meet those requirements.

Where can I find available studies?

Available studies are listed on the available studies page and also by location under the available studies navigation tab. You can also check for available studies by logging onto your FocusGroup.com account, opening your profile dashboard on the right, and by clicking "take a survey."

Do you have any employment opportunities?

For employment opportunities at Focus Pointe Global, please visit www.focuspointeglobal.com and click on the “careers” link on the bottom navigation bar of the website or click here. If there are employment opportunities available, you will be able to see all of the positions and be able to directly apply online.

How do I sign up to take studies?

You and your friends, colleagues, and family can sign up to participate at FocusGroup.com by filling out the “join now” form on the right hand side. Fill in the information in each section and click register. Remember, the more information we have about you, the more studies we will be able to invite you to participate in.

Once you have registered, you will receive a welcome email. You should begin receiving email invitations in a matter of days!

How can I request a payment?

When you have enough pointes, you will see a click to redeem link under the rewards section on your dashboard page. Once you've redeemed your pointes, you will recieve an email and the button will no longer be visible.

How do you determine Eligibility?

Focus Pointe Global has a 4-part screening process to find the most qualified participants for each marketing research study: Eligibility, Verification, Confirmation, and Participation. Do I earn incentives for referring friends?

For every friend, family member, or colleague you refer through FocusGroup.com, you will receive one entry into our monthly sweepstakes. To refer someone, click here or click the "refer a friend" option on your side dashboard (found on the right).

When can I collect my unpaid account balance?

You can request payment once your account reaches 2000 Online Focus Pointes™ or after 3 months, whichever comes first. Payment will be made in the form of a prepaid Visa™ debit card.

Where can I see the dates and times of available studies?

The dates and times of studies are only disclosed to those who we determine are qualified to participate. When we invite you to apply, we will tell you the week that the study takes place and the location. If you qualify to participate in a study, we will then release the date and time.

I qualified for a study, but I've been placed on hold. Why?

Occasionally, more participants than needed for an individual study will be recruited. We call these participants “on hold.” Participants placed on hold are those individuals that meet the criteria for the study, and will be called in the event another individual suddenly drops out. Being an on hold candidate does not guarantee payment. Only successful completion of a study guarantees payment.

How will I be paid my unpaid account balance?

A prepaid Visa™ debit card will be sent to the address listed in your profile. Keeping an up-to-date profile is not only important for finding out about marketing research opportunities, but also to make sure you receive payments once you complete those surveys.

How can I win your sweepstakes?

Every participant that takes an Eligibility Screener or Online Survey receives 1 entry per survey to the Focus Pointe Global Sweepstakes, even if they do not get to complete the survey due to not being part of the desired demographic. The sweepstakes runs from the 1st of each month until the last day of each month, when we choose seven participant names at random. One winner receives $100 and 6 winners receive $25. If selected as a winner, you will receive your prize in the form of an Amazon.com e-gift card. Each month, winners' first name, last initial, and city are posted on the focusgroup.com website. For privacy reasons, we do not include a last name.

Why can't I change my answers or complete a survey I started?

Once you have started a screener or survey, it cannot be reset or redone. This is a safety measure put in place by each client company to ensure that only qualified candidates participate in the studies. We cannot allow individuals to retake surveys.

We recognize that sometimes an answer is chosen in error, computers malfunction, and interruptions occur. Unfortunately, in these cases, we are still unable to allow retakes. Hopefully you will qualify for the next study available to you!

How can I unsubscribe?

To unsubscribe, click here or click on the “account options” option on your side dashboard (found on the right). You will see an unsubscribe check box at the end of the page.

How can I update my email address or other profile information?

Visit www.focusgroup.com and login to view your settings. In the “My Account” section, choose “Personal Profile,” then “Contact.” Here you may update your email address, phone number, or mailing address. Make your change, and click the Submit button. Remember that if you change your email address, you are also changing your username (which IS your email address).

Can residents from countries outside the US participate?

At this time our membership includes people who live within the United States only.
